Recital for One Dancer and Four Hundred Rubber Bands

By Gabrielle Neuhaus and Anat Michaelis-Levy

The piece
Recital for One Dancer and Four Hundred Rubber Bands is a multi-disciplinary work, combining text, dance, sound and both classical and contemporary music.
The piece is about a trapped woman, dealing with the void and emptiness on one side and life's energy and power on the other.

The work depicts an inner conflict, psychological in nature, which is transformed into form and substance.

It is a monologue turning gradually into a dialogue between the woman and the voices around her, streaming inwards and outwards.

Neuhaus' and Michaelis-Levy's collaborative work derives from the discourse between the visual arts and dance.
Lines, shapes, colors and compositions awaken into movement, choreography and time.
